Icarus Falling

Icarus, according to Greek mythology, was the son of Daedalus, who had built the Labyrinth for King Minos of Crete. Father and son were imprisoned by the king and they planned to escape by flying on wings that Daedalus had created. He warned Icarus not to fly too high, because the heat of the sun would melt the wax that held the feathers together, nor too low because the sea foam would make the wings wet and they would no longer fly. They had passed the islands of Samos, Delos and Lebynthos when the boy began to soar upward as if to reach heaven. The blazing sun softened the wax which held the feathers together and they came off. Icarus fell into the sea.

This was my submission for the Blackflood book project, but it didn't make the cut. I had to rush this to make the deadline, but to no avail. I still like it though, although I wish I had more time to work on his wings.
